JOURNÉES MAROC-FRANCE EN SANTÉ

November 11, 2025

Académie du Royaume du Maroc.

On November 11, Mr. Ali Benmakhlouf participated in the JOURNÉES MAROC-FRANCE EN SANTÉ workshop, presenting on the theme: “Les sources constitutives de la bioéthique” at the Académie du Royaume du Maroc.

In his abstract, he highlighted that the term bioethics, introduced in 1970 by oncologist Van Rensselaer Potter, refers to the set of ethical questions arising from the interaction between technology and living beings. Initially, it aimed to guide decisions concerning the survival of species and the future of humanity. Over time, its scope narrowed to biomedical research, but it has now regained its original breadth in light of challenges related to the fragility of ecosystems.
Bioethics goes beyond medical ethics: it examines the human relationship in care, prevention, and clinical research, as well as the boundaries of the beginning and end of life. It encourages reflection on how scientific advances align with patients’ expectations and on the limits of medical authority in respecting human dignity.
