Ali Benmakhlouf is currently professor at University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P), director of the Center for African Studies (CAS), co-director of Arab Classical Philosophy and Philosophy of Sciences (ACCPS), professor emeritus at Paris Est Val de Marne University and honorary member of the Institut Universitaire de France. He was UNESCO’s expert on philosophical dialogue between the Arab and Asian worlds (2004-2011), and has taken part in numerous training courses in Asian countries (South Korea, Thailand, Japan) and Arab countries (Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt). He coordinated the South/South philosophical dialogue for UNESCO (2013).
He is currently involved in debates on bioethics, having been a member and then vice-president of the French National Consultative Ethics Committee (CCNE, 2008-2016) and the Consultative Ethics Committee (CCDE) of the Institut de recherches (IRD) pour le développement, which he chaired from 2009 to 2013. He is a member of Société Française de Philosophie, Institut International de Philosophie, Société d’Histoire de la Pharmacie and a permanent member of Académie Nationale de Pharmacie, and a member of Academy of The Kingdom of Morocco.
