The next course of the seminar program “The world seen from Africa: the multiple processes of decolonization” took place on Tuesday 23 January, on the theme: ” The work of Edward Said: how the East was invented by the West ” to discuss E. Saïd’s 1978 book “L’orientalisme” which raised awareness of the effects of colonial thinking on literature and the humanities. The recent publication of an autobiography of the Palestinian thinker, “Places of mind, a life of Edward Saïd” (2023), provides an opportunity to revisit the literary and humanist destiny of a universal man.
