This next seminar will be delivered by Dr. Sabrine S. Hakam, Postdoctoral Researcher at the UM6P – Center for African Studies (CAS), entitled: “Cityness as a Method for Reading Global Change”

This seminar explores global change, often analyzed through abstract shifts in geopolitics, economic power, and institutional authority. This seminar proposes cityness as a methodological lens for reading these transformations from the ground up. Drawing on a paradigmatic urban snapshot from Dakar, Senegal, the presentation demonstrates how African cities make visible the coexistence of multiple, overlapping global logics within a single urban field.
